Tammy Jean (Simkins) Kinkel, 50, passed away Jan. 23, 2014, at her home in Somers, of natural causes.
She was born Sept. 30, 1963, in Missoula. She was raised in Kalispell and attended Flathead High School.
Tammy married Rick Kinkel in 1981 in New York.
She worked as a dispatcher for the Forest Service after Mount St. Helens erupted in 1982. She most recently worked for Insty-Prints in sales and delivery.
Tammy was a longtime member of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary.
In Tammys own words, she was an athletic supporter. She never missed one of Ricks softball games or bowling nights. She also loved watching her sons Adam and Robbie play hockey, whether it was a pick up game or a tournament. She also supported Adam in his stock car racing endeavors.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pat.
Tammy is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rick Kinkel, of Somers; sons, Adam and wife Lacey of Somers, Robert and wife Tabitha of Kalispell, Drew of Florence, Ariz., and Jake of Kalispell; sister, Tonya Jacquette, and husband Charlie, of Florence, Ariz.; brother, Chad Thorne, of Kalispell; and sisters, Candy and Terry, of Kalispell; grandchildren, Emma of Somers and Lilly of Kalispell; uncles, Tim and Ernie Veigel, of Kalispell; and her sisters, Debbie Hayes and Wendy Kienas, both of Somers.
A celebration of Tammys life will be held this summer.
